Last we left our heroes, The Derailers were mounted up and ready to begin their journey westward, first to reconnect with Cindy and then to find Glarion, and answers for Yevin.
The adventure begins with a dash and continues with a crash as the Derailers take turns using magic and trickery to out pace and derail each other. The race quickly comes to an end as Aurora and Havayla teleport a mile ahead, leaving the rest of the group to catch up, after untangling ropes, passing through windwalls, and overcoming blindness.
The rest of the trip is uneventful and soon they’re in the gnome town of Deerlight. Cindy has becoming the lead guard and scout of the town as they rebuild from ousting their corrupt mayo who has become corrupt in even more ways; he fell into the magical ooze in the wizard’s tower a couple times and has multiplied his limbs.
After a time of reflection with Cindy over their fallen comrade Nahtan, she takes them to see the Wizard’s tower once again. Wander and Havayla study the pool, but learn nothing more than they already knew. Rather than stay the evening, the team chooses to continue on their journey. Cindy tells them of a large white dragon that was spotted, flying east. They leave her with a sending stone and a promise to return after finding Glarion.
The journey continues and soon they find themselves in a mist-laden forest. Wander reaches out with her divine magic to find a path forward, but the spell doesn’t take, implying that wherever Glarion is, it isn’t fully on this plane. They being to see tombstones among the trees. Leaving the horses and continuing on foot, the forest is eerily silent. And then a hand reaches up from the ground.
The forest floor erupts as undead skeletons clamber up and begin to attack. They are easily struck down, but when one falls, another rises up. Fireballs are slung and undead are turned, but the onslaught is unrelenting. As banshee drifts into existence and begins to scream, the session came to a close.
How will the Derailers quell the flood of skeletonized attackers? Will they find Glarion? We’ll find out next time…
