This book depicts the dangers of the Iron Highlands and why not many travels there:
- There is no clear path because most of the cascades are vertical by hundreds of feet if not miles. There are many switchbacks that one could travel on, but there is no guarantee of clear passage.
- The higher one gets, the more dangerous the weather can be.
- There are pathways, tunnels and caverns, through the mountain peaks, but they could lead to anywhere. If you find a cave, keep your wits about you.
- There are creatures that have made this mountaintop their home. Blood Hawks, mountain goats, eagles, Giant eagles, harpies, griffons, and hippogriffs. Lions and manticores are some of the deadliest things here, but tale tells of a Roc that has most of the Iron Highland peaks as it’s territory.
- The caves also are home to trolls, bats, lizards, bullettes and bugbears. The deeper you go, the warmer it gets. Most of the monsters know this as well, so keep your wits about you.
